Boss Overview:
Before jumping into team comps, I want to first provide a brief summary of the mechanics of the Kronos fight. Feel free to skip this if you’re already familiar with the fight.
Before you even get to the boss, there are two trash waves. Usually, if your team can down Kronos, the trash waves should be no problem. However, sometimes these waves can kill your weaker units and make your runs inconsistent. Try to make sure you can clear these waves quickly and/or sustain through their damage.
Overall Kronos is pretty simple. He alternates between two attacks:
Attack 1 – Earth Shaker:
A light AOE followed by a high damage single target strike against the unit with the lowest health percentage. This attack will also Stun the target. Note: This attack appears to prioritize the unit in the first slot (your team leader) when all HP percentages are equal.
Attack 2 – Exploitation
A heavy AOE against all enemy units. No additional effects.
Kronos also has a single passive:
Passive:
The lower the target’s current HP, the higher the damage dealt by his attacks. If his attacks slay the target, grant an extra turn (can only trigger once per turn).
Kronos is accompanied by two tablets (crystals) that have their own abilities:
Suppression Tablet (Left):
Damages all enemies once. Has a chance to inflict Stun for 1 turn.
Blessing Tablet (Right):
Purifies all debuffs from Kronos and boosts his AP (probably 80-90% AP boost, almost always grants another turn).
It’s usually possible to prevent Kronos from one-shotting any units with his first Earth Shaker. After that things get a little harder. By default, Kronos will take his second turn right before the Blessing Tablet and will immediately take his third turn when the Blessing Tablet casts AP Up. If this happens, you will almost always lose the fight. There are a couple of ways to get around this mechanic.
- Kill Kronos before he takes his second turn:
This is a viable approach for end game teams and is usually achieved by acquiring very strong relics and/or adding a units with AP Down/Speed Down/AP Up to your team to effectively prevent Kronos and his Tablets from taking any turns. This is the optimal strategy but will be hard to achieve for newer players and F2P teams so we’ll table it for now.
- Kill the Blessing Tablet before Kronos takes his second turn:
This is a viable approach for teams with strong AOEs and is about 50/50 for teams that include Q. The issue with AOE teams is, if they’re able to kill the Blessing Tablet before Kronos takes his second turn, Single Target teams will usually be able to use the same relics to kill Kronos before he takes his second turn.
- Land a few AP Downs/Slow Down to force Kronos to take his second turn after the Blessing Tablet.
This approach is similar to approach #1 but is feasible to achieve for F2P teams and will be one of the primary goals of our team comps.
Team Comps:
This guide will start with a viable F2P team comp, explain what these units contribute to the team, and finally provide some insight into how to evolve this team comp as you acquire better units via the gacha system.
As a general rule, DPS units want 4 set Wrath of Jupiter (ATK %) relics. Ideally, we would also want a 2 set of Fiery Incandescence (C. Rate %) relics but since these don’t drop from Kronos, split sets and 2 set Sword Avatara (Counter) relics are fine. Main stats should be C. Rate/ATK % and SPD for early game teams. Later on you can replace C. Rate with C. Damage and potentially SPD for ATK % when your relic substats are strong enough.
Healers, Buffers/Debuffers and AP Down units want Wind Walker (SPD+) relics. If possible, 2 set Adamantite (Shield) relics will stabilize your runs but prioritize Slot 6 (Mui II) SPD relics over all else. Main stats and sub-stats are not too important for these units. SPD is always the top priority. After that, you want survivability stats (HP %/DEF %) if these units are consistently dying to Kronos. Usually, they will be tankier than your DPS since we don’t need to focus on C. Rate/ATK % main stats for their relics.
Starting Composition:
Every account should own these units. 4 out of 5 of these units are guaranteed draws and Chang Pu is a 3 star unit that almost everyone should own. My F2P test account had 7 Chang Pus by Day 7.
Unit | Role | Description |
Mona | DPS | Will help you clear trash waves and does pretty decent damage to Kronos |
Q | Debuffer | Applies ATK Down/DEF Down and gives a chance to kill tablet with Link. |
Drew | Debuffer/DPS | Applies DEF Down and does good single target damage to Kronos |
Helena | AP Down/Healer | AP Down on Skill 2 and big heal and crit boost on Skill 3 |
Chang Pu | AP Down/Healer | AP Down on Skill 1 and big heals on Skills 2 and 3 |
Replacement Units – Top Tier
If you acquire any of these units via the gacha, they deserve immediate consideration for a spot on your team. These units all bring utility that match or surpass that of the original team’s units.
Note: I list Chang Pu and Helena as replacable for many of these units but you may need to one healer on your team. Which you choose to keep depends on your team’s needs. Helena provides a C. Rate Up boost which can help boost your DPS. Chang Pu on the other hand provides larger heals in case you’re having issues with survivability.
He isn’t Waifu but Sander is a god for Kronos. He has AP Down on Skill 1 and Skill 3 and his Skill 2 also has a chance to debuff Kronos with Speed Down. His Skill 2 and Skill 3 also have strong ATK % multipliers which means he will also help speed up your clears. Finally, his leader skill makes your team faster and should be stronger than Mona’s lead skill for pushing progression. This will be particularly true if you acquire more AP Down/SPD Up units from the gacha. As always, do your own experiments and see what works best for your team.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
The other godlike unit for Kronos who is also extremely strong for APEP. She has AP Down on Skill 1 and DEF Break/Speed Down on her Skill 3. Her Skill 2 hits like a truck and will also apply 4 stacks of Bleed which can sometimes be the last little boost you need to kill Kronos.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
Probably the best AP down unit in the game since she also provides SPD up for your team. Also synergizes very well with Sander if you already have him on your team. In terms of AP Down, she’s a straight upgrade over Helena and Chang Pu, however since AP Down is better when stacked, I would prioritize replacing Q over those two units if you get her.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
Replacement Units – Situational
These units should all be stronger than Q but may or may not be stronger than the other units in the starter team. Several of these units require your team to have upgrades from the Top Tier section first in order to be usable.
Another great option for AP Down. Her passive makes her the most consistent unit for proccing AP Down but she doesn’t add much utility to your team beyond that. She should still be stronger than Helena and Chang Pu for most teams but may require Sander’s lead skill to truly shine.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
Our last pick for AP Down. She can land SPD Down and AP down with a single cast of Skill 3 but lacks the SPD UP utility of Celine brings and the consistency of Melanie. Her Skill 2 does provide an AP boost to one of your DPS units so she may be a better option if you’re short just a little bit on DPS.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
His lead skill is arguably stronger than Mona’s since it should allow players to run C. DMG runes earlier than would be otherwise possible. The only reason he isn’t a straight up upgrade over Mona is because his Skill 2 inflicts damage onto himself and may put him in one shot range for Kronos. This is something that can be mitigated by stacking Adamantite runes and/or speed tuning your healers but it can also create a lot of instability for your runs.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
Suhua was a staple on my P2W team but on my F2P account, I began to see her shortcomings vs Helena and Chang Pu. Specifically, her lack of AP Down can make your runs a little inconsistent if you don’t already have Sander/Lin Xiao. In the right team, her DEF Up/ATK Down debuffs and ATK Up buffs can make your runs faster and more stable. She is also still a slam dunk upgrade over Q.
Can Replace (In descending order of priority):
The inspiration for our domain name, Queen Coco can dominate in Kronos but only for very specific teams. She doesn’t bring defense down so its hard to use her over Drew. As a result, she will usually replace Mona. However, since she also lacks a usable leader skill, you need to already run Sander or Lewis. She also becomes significantly stronger when you can stack Adamantite runes to buff her Skill 3. Having at least three sets of good Adamantite runes is almost a pre-requisite to seeing big numbers come from her.
